The old Coachman’s Inn at the entrance to Invercargill is being restored to its former glory, thanks to local builder Jamie Bennett.

He said luxury motel owners KTC, based in Auckland, purchased the motels and holiday park last year. They also own motels in Queens Drive as well.

The old Coachmans Inn accommodation had been built in 1973 and had no work done on it since it was opened.

The Bennett Builders team has started upgrading the restaurant and bar, and are now replacing the caravan block with 21 new units.

They’ll also spend the next three to four months upgrading the existing 21-unit block, to restore the property and give it a much needed makeover.

The cabins will all be modernised with insulated panels and 18-metre wide bathrooms, “and bring its image back to what it used to be," Jamie said.

Bennett Builders was established in 2020, specialising in commercial construction, and was involved with the expansion of Countdown Invercargill, including remodelling inside.

There are also future projects in Central Otago - the company can build industrial warehouses, office blocks and retail buildings.
