Mitre 10 Mega Invercargill is stoked with its upgraded Columbus cafe, and the local community is too.

General manager Tracy Key said the interior is now more light and modern, making for a more enjoyable customer experience.

“This new look complements the new kids play area that was refreshed earlier in the year.”

In March the store had its 20th birthday, and as part of the celebrations, the instore playground was revamped.

Tracy said they have also installed a wonderful local mural on the wall, "which has a true Southland flavour with photos of the iconic landmarks of the Invercargill Water Tower, Bluff Signpost and Tautuku Beach.”

The cafe first opened in 2005 and rebranded as part of the Columbus Coffee franchise in 2011.

Featuring a refurbished polished floor, and a self-serve water station with two options, Tracy said the cafe was highly popular, and the food, coffee and team who make it were well loved by customers.

“The team here would like to thank all the local Invercargill based contractors for making our vision come to life.”

Comments on Facebook about the new upgrade include, amazing, incredible, flash, sparkly, roomy and new.

The eggs benedict received plenty of mentions, as did the cheese rolls, custard squares, along with Tokyo lime tea and apparently the best seafood chowder in town.
