Don Frew has been elected to the Ōraka Aparima Community Board following the Southland District Council by-election that closed at midday on Tuesday, 3 March 2026.
Final results show Frew received 443 votes, ahead of Mel Heddershaw (Independent) with 151, Marina Seager with 150, and Nick Kiddey with 76.
There were 4 informal votes and 2 blank votes recorded. The overall voter turnout was 39.43%, with 826 votes cast.
Don Frew has now been officially declared elected to fill the vacancy on the Ōraka Aparima Community Board.
