A motorcyclist died after a crash with a truck on Clyde Street in Invercargill on Thursday night.
Police were called to the intersection near Crinan Street about 9.30pm. The rider was found dead at the scene.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating. State Highway 1 is closed between Tweed Street and Bond Street as a result of the crash, with road users advised to avoid the area or delay their journey if possible.
Detour routes are in place. Northbound traffic should turn left onto Bond Street, then right onto Tweed Street, then left to return to State Highway 1. Southbound traffic should turn left onto Tweed Street, right onto Nith Street, and continue to State Highway 1.
Delays are expected for motorists in the area.
