Focus Technology Group has taken home the People’s Choice Award at the 2025 Grand Business South Awards, a recognition made all the more special by being voted for entirely by the public. The IT services provider was also named a finalist in the Excellence in Customer Experience category, underlining its commitment to delivering high-quality service and support across Otago, Southland, and Canterbury.
Founded over three decades ago by Rod Sinclair in Invercargill, Focus began as a small IT provider and has grown into a multi-branch organisation with seven offices and over 80 staff. Despite its growth, the company remains closely connected to its roots in Invercargill, something that played a key role in this community-driven honour.
The People’s Choice Award is one of the most meaningful categories of the Grand Business South Awards, as it relies entirely on public voting. Clients, partners, and members of the community took the time to show their appreciation by casting votes for Focus, highlighting the strong relationships and trust the company has built over the years.
Brendon McDermott, Chief Executive of Focus Technology Group, said the win is deeply significant to the team and the wider company.
“This award means a lot to us because it comes directly from the people we support. Our mission has always been to build genuine relationships and deliver exceptional service — and to see our clients and community recognise that effort is incredibly humbling. We’re grateful for every vote and proud of our team who made this possible.”
Focus provides a wide range of services, including IT support, cybersecurity, cloud solutions, business systems, and consulting. The company continues to invest in customer experience, improved communication, and long-term partnerships with local businesses.
The Grand Business South Awards, held at the Dunedin Town Hall, celebrate outstanding performance and innovation across multiple sectors in the Otago and Southland regions. Focus Technology Group has extended its thanks to everyone who supported and celebrated this milestone with them.
