After pricing up replacing my old courtyard pavers with new charcoal ones, the cost was enough to make me think twice. I needed a Plan B.
Dean at Wrens Invercargill on Yarrow Street came to the rescue, suggesting I look at staining them instead with Novex Easy Seal Concrete Stain/Sealer. There are a limited number of tints available, but dark grey was the perfect choice for what I had in mind.
My courtyard had three different paver types — standard rough finish, grey smooth, and clay-coloured smooth — a mix that looked disjointed and a little tired. I'm no painter, but the application was far easier than I expected. Easy Seal has blended all three into a great, cohesive look that's completely transformed the space. The courtyard garden area feels fresh and inviting now, and really highlights the flowers and plants rather than competing with them.

EASY SEAL CONCRETE STAIN/SEALER is ideal for surfaces like exposed aggregate, slate and coloured concrete pavers.
The key to EASY SEAL CONCRETE STAIN/SEALER is "it must be able to penetrate the surface like a stain/sealer", enabling it to lock onto the concrete whilst still displaying the surface texture.
Use EASY SEAL Prep Wash & Thinner as a thinner when required and also to re-activate existing sealer prior to a maintenance coatFor Garage floor applications, EASY SEAL is not normally recommended. This is due to the smooth non-porous steel trowelled surface. Even after acid etching treatment the sealer penetration can be limited and may result in the sealer/stain sitting on the top of the surface and can occasionally lift off when vehicles with wet hot tyres are left parked on the surface for a period of time.
Note: EASY SEAL CONCRETE STAIN/SEALER is not suitable for factory glazed terracotta tiles.
