Gore is gearing up for a magical day of festive fun as the much-loved Santa Parade and Christmas Carnival return on Sunday, 14 December. The celebrations kick off at 12 noon with Santa and his cheerful crew making their way down Gore’s Main Street, followed by an afternoon of entertainment and activities at Gore Main Reserve until 4.30pm.

Gore District Council’s Senior Events Coordinator, Florine Potts, said families can expect live entertainment, roaming performers, food trucks, rides, and a range of activities designed to bring joy and holiday cheer. “Thanks to the generosity of Mercury and our amazing local sponsors, families can enjoy a fun-filled day for free. It’s all about bringing people together and celebrating what makes Gore so special.”

Mercury is once again supporting the event as the main sponsor, covering the costs for crowd favourites such as the mini jeeps, astro ball, bungy trampoline, and a caricaturist. Community Trust South is sponsoring a stage filled with talented local performers, while Regional Ford and Harcourts are ensuring kids are entertained with bouncy castles and bumper balls.

Ms Potts also highlighted how the event is a great opportunity for local clubs, schools, and businesses to showcase their creative side. Parade participants have a chance to win prizes, with awards sponsored by local businesses totalling $250. “This is Gore’s biggest community event of the year, loved by both young and old. There’s no cost to enter the parade, so gather your group and join the fun!”

Anyone wanting to be part of the Santa Parade can register online at www.goredc.govt.nz/santa. For those interested in the Christmas Carnival, email [email protected] for more information.

The community is encouraged to get involved and help make this festive season unforgettable.
