• Work to replace Invercargill Transfer Station weighbridge is expected to take about a month
• Temporary traffic measures will be in place using traffic lights to guide all vehicles
• Public asked to delay non-urgent rubbish drop-offs to help minimise disruption

Work to upgrade the Invercargill Transfer Station will soon begin, with the incoming weighbridge being replaced to improve the site.

Work is scheduled to start (today) Monday 28 April and is expected to take about a month to complete. During this time, people are being asked to postpone any non-urgent rubbish drop-offs where possible.

A spokesperson said, "During this time, we're asking everyone to delay any non-urgent rubbish drop-offs if possible."

To manage traffic during the construction, all vehicles will need to use the outgoing weighbridge. This will be controlled by temporary traffic lights to ensure a smooth flow of vehicles in and out of the site.

Temporary traffic management will be in place for the duration of the project. "Thanks for your patience while we carry out this upgrade," the spokesperson said.

The project aims to create a more efficient and reliable system for weighing vehicles and handling waste at the site once the new weighbridge is installed.

The Invercargill Transfer Station upgrade forms part of ongoing efforts to keep the facility operating safely and effectively for the local community.
