Today's weather brought to you by petsmart.nz
Invercargill is in for a breezy Friday 2 October — rain developing through the morning, then clearing to partly cloudy later with the odd shower still possible. Expect a high around 16°C and a low near 8°C, with strong northwesterlies gusting up to about 90 km/h before easing and turning southwesterly in the afternoon.
Morning
Rain develops through the morning under cloudy skies, with a strong northwesterly already up early. MetService has gusts climbing toward 90 km/h, so secure outdoor gear and expect blustery conditions around town. Temperatures start near the overnight low of about 8°C and lift into the low teens as the morning goes on. Sunrise is at 7:17am.
Afternoon
The rain clears to a partly cloudy afternoon, though the chance of a shower hangs around. Winds ease a little and swing to the southwest. The high should reach around 16°C — mild enough for spring, but still a day for a windproof layer if you're outdoors for long. UV will be moderate under broken cloud.
Evening and overnight
Evening looks partly cloudy as the southwest change settles in. Sunset is at 7:56pm. Overnight, showers are less of a feature on the MetService outlook for the night itself, with temperatures easing toward single figures ahead of a much quieter Saturday. Keep an eye on any leftover gusts early in the evening.
Looking ahead
Saturday turns fine, with southwesterlies dying out by evening — a cooler day though, around 13°C and a frosty overnight low near 1°C. Sunday and Monday stay fine and milder (about 15–18°C) with light winds. Tuesday looks fine before cloud builds in the evening, then midweek brings a few showers again.
