A mixologist from Invercargill's The Langlands has made it to the top six in New Zealand's most prestigious cocktail competition.

Stefani, who works at 360 rooftop cocktail bar, will compete in the MONIN NZ Cocktail Cup national final on Monday 11 May against some of the country's best bartenders.

"We're incredibly proud of Stefani," says The Langlands Executive Manager Alannah Tamariki. "She brings creativity, passion and genuine warmth to everything she does. Seeing her recognised on a national stage is fantastic."

ILT Chief Executive Chris Ramsay says Stefani's selection is well deserved.

"Stefani's success is a great example of the talent within our team. We've got a strong people focus and we're proud to support her as she grows her career here in Invercargill," he said.

The internationally recognised MONIN Cup challenges competitors to think beyond the glass, crafting cocktails that deliver flavour and a full sensory experience.

For the competition, Stefani has created an innovative cocktail using Monin Creme Brulée infused with miso - an unlikely combination that showcases her creative approach.

"I've developed a cocktail using Monin Creme Brulée infused with miso. While those flavours might sound rich and creamy, I've actually designed the drink to be light and refreshing. I enjoy creating something that surprises people, offering a different experience while keeping the flavours balanced and enjoyable," Stefani says.

Originally from Indonesia, Stefani studied Hotel Management at SIT before joining The Langlands team and making Invercargill her home.

"People here are so friendly, and I really enjoy living here. There are lots of opportunities, especially for graduates like me," she says. "We've also got amazing flavours on our doorstep too. I love working with local distilleries like Bluff Gin, Auld Farm Distillery and Third Island Gin from Stewart Island."

This isn't Stefani's first time in the spotlight - she was also a finalist in last year's competition, an experience she says has helped refine her approach.

"I'm looking forward to connecting with other bartenders, being inspired and bringing fresh ideas back to Invercargill and into 360, where we're always learning and evolving."

The winner of the New Zealand final will represent the country at the Asia Pacific stage of the competition.
