The Southland Musicians Club’s iconic live music venue has a new name — and the public is invited to celebrate.

The Riff Live Music Venue will be officially launched with a free show this Saturday, 14 March, at 33 Preston Street, Invercargill.

“We’ve worked very hard to develop our professional entertainment venue, and it deserves to be recognised as the heart of the Southland music scene.”

Visitors will notice some visual changes at the Preston Street venue, including new street-facing signage and a colourful mural painted inside the building.

The official opening of The Riff Live Entertainment Venue will be marked with a free public show on Saturday from 1.30pm until late.

The day will feature a strong lineup of local acts including:

  • The Commoners
  • Fortunate Sons
  • S.UN
  • The Cindy Syndicate
  • FOTA
  • Hoodaki
  • Filth Wizard
  • Duncan’s Darlings
  • Rusty Trinkets
  • Jersey Rhein
  • Bangers & Mash

A barbecue will be held at 6pm (no BYO), and the night will wrap up with an open mic session at 10pm.
