Police have named the young man who died in a crash on Bluff Highway last week as Caleb Wilson Moss, 19, from Invercargill.

Emergency services were called to the crash just after 6am on Thursday 11 September. It happened near the intersection of State Highway 1 and Kew Road. Tragically, Caleb died at the scene. No one else was injured.

Police confirmed the crash resulted in the full closure of SH1 between Elles Road and Elizabeth Street while emergency services and the Serious Crash Unit investigated.

"Due to a serious crash, State Highway 1 is now closed between Elles Road and Elizabeth Street. Please follow the detour route and expect delays," Police said at the time.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are still ongoing.

Police have extended their sympathies to Caleb’s family and friends.
