A Nelson local is celebrating a life-changing win after taking home a massive $16 million prize in the latest Lotto draw. The winning ticket was bought at Fresh Choice Nelson City and includes $15 million from Powerball First Division and $1 million from Lotto First Division.
“Tonight’s winner is the nineteenth Powerball multi-millionaire this year,” said Lotto NZ. The win follows just weeks after three players from Auckland, Kawerau and Christchurch each took home $18.3 million during Lotto NZ’s historic $55 million Must Be Won draw.
Alongside the big win in Nelson, twelve other Lotto players will also be celebrating. Each one picked up $21,283 after winning Lotto Second Division. One of these winning tickets was bought via the MyLotto app in Southland.
While the main prize has been snapped up, Strike Four was not won and has rolled over to an estimated $400,000 for the next draw on Saturday night.
Lotto NZ encourages everyone who purchased tickets from Fresh Choice Nelson City to check them immediately. Tickets can be checked in-store, online via MyLotto, or on the MyLotto App.
