2pm Update: Police can confirm one person has died following the single-vehicle crash on State Highway 93/Old Coach Road this morning. Sadly, a man was pronounced deceased at the scene. The road remains closed.
The Serious Crash Unit remains at the scene and the road remains closed.A single car crash on State Highway 93 has closed the road near Clutha this morning. Emergency services responded to the single-vehicle incident on Old Coach Road, between Dodds Road and Hurst Road, at around 10.15am.
The road is now shut in both directions, with authorities expecting it to stay closed for several hours. The Serious Crash Unit has been notified and is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
Police stated, "State Highway 93, Old Coach Road, is closed at Clutha following a single-vehicle crash this morning."
Detours: Motorists are being diverted onto State Highway 1. Westbound traffic should turn left onto Kaiwera Road, then right back onto SH93. Eastbound drivers should follow the same route in reverse. Drivers are advised to plan for delays as they travel through the area.
Police added, "Traffic is being diverted along State Highway 1, and motorists should factor in the longer travel time."
No further details about the crash, including any injuries, have been released at this stage.
