Presbyterian Support Southland (PSS) has marked the first milestone in its five-year redevelopment plan for Peacehaven Retirement Village, with the official opening of a new show home on Tuesday, 16 December. The home offers a first look at the modern living spaces being created as part of a large-scale transformation of the village.
Chief executive Matt Russell said the completed show home was an exciting achievement in the early stages of the redevelopment. The occasion was marked with an official event attended by staff, board members, and current Peacehaven residents.
“For Enliven Southland, the redevelopment reinforces an ongoing commitment to supporting older people in Southland across their spectrum of needs,” he said. “This commitment to care is at the core of what we do, so it was a pleasure to be able to celebrate this milestone alongside our village residents.”
The full project includes building 38 stylish and modern units under the Occupation Right Agreement (ORA) model, along with a dedicated residents’ lodge. Construction is being carried out in stages and is expected to continue for up to five years.
Stage 1a began in June this year and will deliver 13 homes, including a combination of standalone and duplex villas. The first six units are scheduled to be completed by May 2026, with the remaining seven finished by July 2026.
The new show home will be available for both public and private viewings in the New Year. Bayleys Southland will manage viewings and open days, while Enliven Southland will also reach out to local community groups to organise tours.
This new development reflects PSS’s long-term focus on creating high-quality, supportive environments for older people, with Peacehaven set to offer a refreshed and welcoming place to call home.
