The Sharks have won nine straight games.
Southland beat Franklin 12-10 in a grinding defensive battle at Stadium Southland on Wednesday night, extending their winning streak despite a late Bulls comeback that fell just short.
Tobias Cameron came off the bench to score 18 points in his second game back, leading the Sharks alongside Caleb Asberry's 17 points. Sam Timmins added 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Bulls trailed most of the way but mounted a fourth-quarter charge led by Derrin Boyd, who finished with 26 points and seven rebounds. Jace Carter grabbed 18 rebounds to go with 14 points, while Carter Whitt contributed 13 points and seven assists.
But Southland's depth proved decisive. The Sharks had answers every time Franklin threatened, turning what looked like a comfortable lead into a tense finish before closing out the win.
The victory followed another Sharks win in rapid league earlier in the evening, where they beat Franklin 40-28 after an 11-0 start nearly put the game out of reach.
Payton Hughes kept the Bulls alive in that opener with five three-pointers, helping Franklin claw back to take the lead. Hughes finished with 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting from beyond the arc.
A 9-0 Sharks run to end the game sealed both victories. Dane Bertinshaw led Southland with 11 points and four rebounds in the rapid league match, while Quake Webster added nine points.
The double-header sweep keeps the Sharks rolling as they chase their best start to a season in years. Franklin, coming off Whitt's game-winner against the Nuggets, couldn't carry their shooting form into the main game until it was too late.
Both teams return to action this weekend as the NBL season heats up.
