The national performing arts organisation Stage Antics is putting together two shows here in Invers over the coming week.
The brief is for young people aged under 18 put on a show in a week. That's audition, rehearse and perform before the public all in a week! Believe me, that's no small task.
From the StageAntics website - This programme will see two productions
🎭 8–13year olds
🎭 14 - 18year olds
and are open to performers with any level of experience — from first-timers to seasoned performers. Everyone is welcome!
🎭 Programme Overview
Our Show in a Week runs intensively across a week with casting workshops held as part of the workshop process. The Week is fulltime - 9am - 5pm with three public performances at the end of the week.
Well known stage performer and director Craig Waddell will be at the helm of The Big One-Oh and Emma Bishop who is president of Musical Theatre NZ will be in charge of Mary Poppins.
Craig Waddell says demand has been so strong that they are able to stage two shows this week. He says being able to do two shows is a first a first for Invercargill.
