The manager of Bombay Palace Invercargill is opening a new Italian restaurant in South City this Sunday.

Owner/operator Anil Kumar Prasad has been running home deliveries from the restaurant since April 12, but now it’s time to offer the public another place to dine.

Mayor Tom Campbell has also been invited for lunch at The Maurya’s Cafe and Restaurant on Sunday, and will cut the ribbon to officially open the doors.

Anil has spent $400,000 renovating the Martin Street premises and his next project is to open another restaurant in both Gore and Winton.

Arriving in New Zealand 20 years ago, Anil took over Bombay Palace Invercargill with a friend after it was renovated in 2011.

Dr Sunil Talwar founded Bombay Palace in Wanaka, Queenstown (2) and Invercargill, and now has a total of seven restaurants nationwide.

Meanwhile, back in the South, Anil's latest venture at The Maurya's will involve authentic Italian flavours from his Indian chefs, “with a taste of Italy right here in your neighbourhood.”

“Come experience great food, rich flavours, and a welcoming ambience. Bring your friends and family and celebrate with us."
