11.25am – SH1 reopens after South Otago crash.
State Highway 1/Milton Highway between the South Otago towns of Milton and Balclutha has reopened after a crash this morning.
People are asked to travel with care in the area.

Milton Highway, part of State Highway 1 through the South Otago town of Milton, has been blocked following a crash involving a truck and a car on Monday morning.

Police were called to the scene shortly before 9am near the intersection of Adams Flat Road and Milton Highway.

"Initial indicators are that there are three injuries,"

St John spokesman said they responded with an ambulance and helicopter.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area if possible, as the crash has blocked the road and is expected to cause delays for drivers travelling through Milton and along State Highway 1.

Emergency services are working at the scene and traffic disruption is likely while crews respond and manage the incident. Drivers approaching the area are advised to follow any directions from emergency personnel.

Detour route:
Northbound traffic turn right onto Moneymore Road, then right onto Elliotvale Road, left onto Allison Road and then left to return to State Highway. Route unsuitable for heavy vehicles.
