SH1 is now CLOSED between Moa Hill Rd and Waiwera Station Rd. Southbound traffic detour via Moa Hill Rd, Kaihiku Rd and Waiwera Station Rd. Reverse for northbound.
A crash involving a truck and trailer unit has forced the closure of Clinton to Balclutha State Highway 1, at Waiwera South this afternoon.
Emergency services responded to the scene after the incident, where the driver fortunately suffered only minor injuries. Authorities have since put diversions in place for motorists, although the current detour routes are not appropriate for heavy vehicles.
Drivers passing through the area have been asked to plan for extra travel time as delays are expected. Crews are working to clear the scene and reopen the road as soon as possible, but there is no set timeline for when the highway will fully reopen.
