A third young person has appeared in court following an aggravated robbery at a convenience store in Invercargill.

The incident occurred at around 3.30am on Monday, 24 March, when four individuals entered the On the Spot Collingwood Foodcentre on North Road. Two of the offenders were armed with knives, while another was carrying a tyre iron.

The group targeted cigarettes and tobacco before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

Police launched an investigation and earlier executed search warrants at two Invercargill properties, resulting in two arrests. Both of those individuals were charged with aggravated robbery and were due to appear in the Invercargill Youth Court.

Today, Police located and arrested a third youth without incident. This individual also appeared in the Invercargill Youth Court in relation to the robbery.

The two store employees were not injured during the incident but were left shaken.

Police say enquiries are ongoing, and more arrests are likely as they continue to investigate.
