BIRCH, Brian Raymond:
After a long fought battle, sad to say that Brian passed away at Southland Hospital surrounded by family on Monday 5 May 2025; aged 77 years. Loved father and father-in-law of Shane and Glenis, Angela and Murray, Cindy and Norman, Tineke and Adam. Loved Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Errol and Frances, Neville and Nancy, Roger and Elanie, Neil*, and Shona. Loved uncle of all his many nephews and nieces. A special thanks to the staff at Bupa, Southland Hospital and all others involved in the care of Brian. Brian will be resting at 36 Adamson Crescent Invercargill until his service which will be held in the Southland Crematorium Chapel, Rockdale Road Invercargill on Fridy 9 May at 10.00am. CHIVERS, Thelma Anne:
Passed peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by love, on Monday 5 May 2025. A cherished mother of five, adored nanny to many grandchildren and one great grandchild. A private gathering with immediate family will be held.
GILBERTSON, Eleanor Joyce:
Joyce passed away peacefully at Southland Hospital, on 3 May, 2025 aged 96 years. Dearly loved wife and best friend of the late Alan Gilbertson and loved mother and mother-in-law of Anne and Noel (Adelaide), Barry and Helena (Melbourne), Peter and Lyn (Christchurch), Morris and Kyra, Ken and Sarah (Perth), and Jacqui and the late Derek. Loved sister of Barbara (Nelson) and brother of the late Jon. She will be lovingly remembered by grandchildren Stephanie, Jeffrey, Kelly, Emma, Anthony, Ryan, Sam, Tom, Jared and great-grandchildren Kayleigh, Yasmin, Frankie, Ashton, Deklan, Molly, Evie, Madeleine and Nana Joyce to extended family. A service to celebrate Joyce's life will be held in First Presbyterian Church, 155 Tay Street, Invercargill on Friday 9 May at 11:00am followed by a cuppa in Stobo Hall before a private ceremony at Southland Crematorium. Special thanks to the medical team and nursing staff at Southland Hospital, St John Ambulance and Access caregivers.
