HAYS, Kathleen (Kate):
Passed away peacefully on Friday 9 May 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her. Kate will be deeply missed by her devoted husband Allan; her children Ralph, Maryanne, Amy, and Peter; her three sisters; her nine cherished grandchildren and all her nieces and nephews.

A funeral service to celebrate Kate’s life will be held on Friday, 16 May at 1:30pm at St Mary’s Basilica, Tyne Street, Invercargill. Burial will follow at Eastern Cemetery, block 53. Refreshments will be served afterwards at the Invercargill Bridge Club, 50 Elles Road. All who knew Kate are warmly invited to join her family. Passed away peacefully at Rowena Jackson on Monday 12th May 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Dearly loved husband and soul mate of the late Gwenda. Loved father and father in law or Lara and Kerrian Simpson, Sasha and Ashley Hunter, and Brad and Anna Molloy. Loved Poppa of Lani and Casie; Jackson, McKenzie, and Sienna; and Jessica, Caleb and Cody. Passed away peacefully at Southland Hospital, Invercargill after a short illness on Saturday, May 10, 2025. Aged 89 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Peter Shannon and loved mother and mother in law of her children Paul and Leanne, Michael, and Trish and Scott. Loved by her grandchildren Ashley, Samuel, Hunter, and Lewis and her great- grandchildren Lochie, Willow, and Milla. Loved daughter of the late Robert and Mary Ellen Coulter of Ashburton. Beloved sister of the late Madelaine Cox and John Coulter. Survived by her two other brothers Brian and Peter. A service to celebrate Val’s life will be held in the Avenal Park Chapel, 75 Fox St, Avenal, Invercargill on Friday May 16 at 1:30 pm.
