A Southland player won Lotto Second Division on Wednesday night — the third time in a week the region has turned up on the winners' list.
There has been a pattern for Southland of three in a row then a draught, will this Saturday make it four in a row?
The ticket was sold through MyLotto to a Southland player, one of 13 Second Division winners nationally who each took home $17,438 from draw 2607 on Wednesday July 29. One of those 13 also hit Powerball Second Division, bumping their total to $29,466.
First Division was split between two players, each winning $500,000. Those tickets were sold at New World Masterton and New World Motueka. Powerball went unwon and rolls to $5 million on Saturday.
One Strike Four winner also came out of the draw — a Timaru player who bought their ticket on MyLotto and took home $200,000.
It has been a decent run for the region. On Wednesday July 23, a Southland player was among 16 Second Division winners nationally, each collecting $27,740 — ending what had been a dry spell of weeks without a local result. Then last Saturday, an Invercargill player won Second Division through MyLotto, sharing in a pool where 29 winners each received $19,686. That same Saturday draw also produced two Auckland Powerball winners who split $40.2 million — $20.1 million each.
Anyone who bought a ticket at one of the winning stores should check it in-store, on MyLotto, or through the MyLotto app.
