Muriel passed away on Tuesday 7th July 2026, aged 98 years. She was the devoted wife of the late Les Brown for 60yrs. A cherished mother and mother-in-law to Lois, Carolyn and Barry, Shona, and the late Lynda. A much-loved Grandmother of Anika and Megan, the late MaryEllen, Johnny and Shane, the late Isobel, Jessica, Justin and Nathan, Laura, Jenna and Daniel. A loving Great Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother to many. Loved sister and sister-in-law of the late Ian and Ruth, the late George, and Ewen and Irene. A much-loved Aunty of all her nephews and nieces. Muriel was also a loved sister-in-law of the late Ora and late Dave, the late Phyllis and late Eric, the late Myrtle and Andrew, the late Russell and late Jean, the late Audrey and late Ken, Avis and the late George. A special friend of Rona, Valmai, the late Faye, and Diane. Special thanks to St John, staff of the Medical Ward at Kew, the RDNS team, and Dr Sloane for their loving care. A Service to Celebrate Muriel's life will be held on Friday 17th July, 12.30pm in J Fraser and Sons Chapel, corner Esk and Doon Streets, Invercargill. Interment at Otautau Cemetery will follow. Peacefully at Dunedin Hospital, on Saturday 4th July 2026. Aged 74 years. Dearly loved wife of Russell. Much loved Mum of Deon, Kirsten and Adam. Cherished Nanny of Kaylee, Jacob and Jade, and the late Simone. Loved sister and sister-in-law of Marilyn and John, Arnold and Maria, Pamela and Bruce, Jill*, Kevin, Dot, Peta and Linda Erin. Loved Aunt of all her nieces and nephews, and cherished friend to many. In the care of Cargill Rest Home, Invercargill on Thursday 25 June 2026; aged 93 years. Dearly loved Wife of the late Ean Young, and Ian Paterson. Much loved Mother of Chris, Alan, and Catherine. Loved Nana of Robert, Shane, and Ean; Jaimee, Flynn, and Ruby. Loved Great Nana of Claire, Alex, Breanna, Hunter, Ava, and Tahlia. A memorial service to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held in the Avenal Park Lounge, 75 Fox Street Invercargill on Friday 24 July at 11.00am. Special thanks to the staff at Cargill Rest Home for the love and the care shown to Joyce over the past years.
