Peacefully at home on 12 July 2026; aged 62 years. Much-loved wife and soulmate of Ken (Pork), adored Mum of Scott, mother-in-law of Karorangi (Cuddles), step-grandmother, and wee friend of Elijah. Loved daughter of the late Yvonne and Johnny Waters, sister of Nigel and Jackie. Adored daughter-in-law of Myrtle Dillon, treasured sister-in-law, and adored Auntie. After a full and active life, surrounded by family, and in the loving care of the Iona staff, Peacehaven, Invercargill, Val passed away peacefully on Friday, 10 July, 2026, aged 91 years. Dearly loved and adored wife of (Maurice) John Hesson for 71 years. Much loved Mum of Robin and Brenda, mother-in-law of Sjoerdtje, Johnny and Alan. Loved Nana of Holly and Greg, Roxy and Wiremu, Edward and Nikcola, Gala and Hahna, her six great-grandchildren, her extended family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, to be advised. HILL, Raymond Leslie (Ray):
Passed away peacefully at Gore Hospital on 12 July 2026, surrounded by his loving family, aged 82 years. Much loved husband and best friend of Marilyn. Amazing dad of Emma and Ian and Wade and Penny. Super proud granddad of Flynn, Riley and Leila. Dearly loved brother of Val and the late Graham (Portsmouth, UK). Happiest with a Sudoku in one hand and a good whiskey in the other, Ray will be sadly missed by all who knew him. A private family service has been held. In line with Ray’s wishes, he has been cremated.
