One person is in critical care in hospital after a crash between a stock truck and a station wagon at a rural Southland intersection on Monday.

The collision happened at the intersection of Grove Bush Road and Rakahoka Hedgehope Road, near Grove Bush, at around 5:20pm on August 10. A heavy vehicle stock truck and trailer and a white station wagon were involved. Two people were injured.

Southland Police are now asking anyone who saw the crash — or what happened in the lead-up to it — to come forward.

Detective Mason Middlemass said investigators want to piece together the circumstances of the crash. "Police are making enquiries into the circumstances of the crash and we would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the events leading up to the crash."

"We also ask for any motorists who were travelling on Grove Bush Road and Rakahoka Hedgehope Road who may have dashcam footage of the crash, or moments between 5pm and 5.40pm, to please get in touch," Middlemass said.
