Tiger Woods' former caddie Steve Williams will headline a major Southland fundraising event this October, with organisers expecting strong demand for the rare New Zealand speaking appearance.
Williams, widely regarded as one of golf's most successful caddies, will be the star attraction at 'A Night Out with Hospice South' on 3 October 2026 at Ascot Park Hotel. The event is part of the returning Cruise 4 Care fundraiser.
During his career spanning decades at the highest level of professional golf, Williams was part of 13 major championship victories alongside Tiger Woods. He has also achieved success in motorsport as a two-time New Zealand speedway champion and now serves as Patron of Speedway New Zealand.
The evening aims to raise significant funds for Hospice South while bringing together the region's golf, business and community networks.
"This is more than just a sporting event - it's an opportunity to connect, be inspired, and support a service that impacts so many in our community," organiser Suzanne Prentice said.
Williams is expected to share stories from inside elite professional golf, with organisers anticipating strong interest from golf enthusiasts, motorsport fans, and the wider business community.
Early bird tickets will be released first to previous attendees today (Monday, 13 April), before opening to the public on Friday, 17 April. Tickets can be purchased through the Cruise 4 Care Facebook page via Humanatix.
The event will feature storytelling and hospitality elements, along with a live charity auction offering a variety of items. Organisers are working closely with sponsors and partners to deliver a premium experience for attendees.
Hospice South provides essential care to families across the region, making the fundraising event crucial for continuing their services.
Further announcements about the event will be made in coming weeks. Updates can be found on the Cruise 4 Care social media pages.
