DE Wit John Edmond: (JD)
Dearly loved son of the late Jack and Agnes DE Wit. Brother of the late Graham and the late Heather Grey. Much loved first Grandchild of the late Joseph & Winnie Paddon. We honour John's wish for no funeral but hope his friends will raise a glass for him and remember his love of Softball, Rugby, shooting ducks and a good debate on just about anything! At a later date we will have a family service at Tautuku Beach and reunite John with Graham. GOODMAN, Neville:
Formerly of Winton and Balclutha. Dad passed away peacefully at Yvette Williams Dunedin on April 27, 2026, aged 82. Dearly loved Dad of Ian, Donna and the late Fiona. Dearly loved husband of the late Christine and Stepdad of Michael, Hayden and Rowan, and a dear friend of Evelyn. A loved father-in-law, Grandad Goody, Great-Grandad Goody, brother and uncle. Many thanks to Evelyn, and the wonderful team at Yvette Williams for their loving care of Neville over the last couple of years. A private farewell will be held. HOGG, Gavin:
Died peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in his 94th year. Much loved husband and dear friend of Janet for almost 66 years. Dearly loved father and father-in-law of Gavin and Anne (Bannockburn), Andrew and Tamara (Timaru), Hamish and Jo (Australia), and the late Callum. MOYNIHAN, Mary Rita “Marita” (nee Hailes):
Passed away in Invercargill, on Sunday 3rd May 2026, aged 93 years. Loved wife of Lex*. Daughter of Cornelius* and Elizabeth* Hailes. Loved mother and mother-in-law of John & Jenny, Paul & Kaye, Terry & Shelley, Clare & Bernie Zyskowski, Alex & Tina, Mark & Rosemary, and Julie. Loved sister and sister in-law of Pat* & Don*, Kevin* & Dorothy*, Eddie* & Anita*, Les* & Pattie*, Wyn*, Arthur* & Margaret*, Tom* & Judy*. A Loved Grandmother and great- grandmother. Sadly missed by her nieces and nephews. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Great North Road, Winton, on Saturday 9th May, at 11am. Passed away peacefully in the loving care of the Resthaven staff with his loving family by his side, on Friday May 1, 2026; in his 91st year. Dearly loved husband and soulmate of Jean, adored father and father in-in-law of Rhonda* Osgood, Raewyn and Peter Laughton, , Bill* and Pam*Osgood, Allison Hunter, Peter and Tammy Osgood, Robyn and Clem Hill, Jeanene Osgood and Chris Campbell, cherished Grandad of Roydon, and Alicia; Hamish; Kayden, Jane, and Billy; Jessica, and Reuben; Dylan, and Lucas, and great grandad to his 13 great grandchildren. RABBITT, John Denis:
Peacefully and with so much love around him, on Thursday, 30th April 2026 at Southland Hospital. Aged 86 years. Loved Husband and best friend of Wynnis for the past 61 years. The hardest-working and loving father and father-in-law of Nigel and Silvania, Teresa and Ken, Sandra and Brad, Eddie and Mandy. A very loved Grand and great-grandad. Loved brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. A Recurium Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, 7th May in the Otautau Connect, 134 Main Street, Otautau at 1 pm. This will be followed by an interment at the Tuatapere Cemetery, Clifden Highway, Tuatapere. WELLINGTON, Kenneth Geoffrey (Ken):
Of Invercargill. Passed peacefully after a short illness on 29 April 2026, aged 83 years. Adored husband of the late Marjorie (nee Sutton). Dearly loved by children Glen Tomlinson, and Debra MacKenzie). A Memorial service to celebrate Ken's life will be held in J Fraser and Sons Chapel, cnr Esk and Doon Streets, Invercargill on Thursday 7 May, at 3pm. The family would like to thank the staff of Southland Hospital and St John Ambulance for their special care of Ken.
